Until 1914 Boka Navy performed ceremonial performances
only on days of the patron of Kotor, Sv. Tryphon, on 2nd and 3rd February.
Since then the Navy has participated in parades during the arrival of high
government officials, kings, emperors and heads of state, what also does
today.
Until the dissolution of SFR Yugoslavia Navy has only twice hosted outside
of Kotor on the festivities within the borders of the former country.
The first time was 09/10/1972 – on this day Boka Navy attended the unveiling
of the monument "Seagull Wings" on the occasion of the celebration of 30th
anniversary of Yugoslav Navy in Podgora.
Three years later, 25/05/1975, Boka Navy is participating in the Youth Day
parade in Belgrade.
After the independence of Montenegro, Boka Navy was at the invitation of the
mayor of Podgorica Miomir Mugosa for the first time on tour in Podgorica
12/17/2007, on the eve of the celebration of the Day of Podgorica, 19th
December. Mayor Mugoša greets Main detachment of Boka Navy, composed of
sailors and officers of Navy branches from Kotor, Tivat and Herceg Novi, in
front of the municipality building and handed the national flag of
Montenegro. The detachment was subsequently walked down the streets of the
capital to Republic Square, where he submitted a report to the Deputy Mayor
Dragan Miajlović and then played the traditional round of Boka Navy.
Hosting Boka Navy in Podgorica was a part of the event called "Boka Story",
organized by the Croatian Civic Society of Montenegro.
