BOKA NAVY DECORATIONS | PICTURE GALLERY

Over the centuries, Boka Navy has demonstrated its dedication to preserving its tradition and community; developing maritime affairs and maritime trade, education, but also creating opportunities to advance its hometown and the Boka region. Various socio-political systems that took turns in this region noted the qualities of the maritime association and acknowledged it via decorations, diplomas, letters of appreciation, honors etc.

Monetary funds were not the only thing Navy sought from the Austrian court – awards and decorations were important as well. On September 25th 1872, Navy wrote a letter to Archduke Albrecht, imploring him to decorate its flag with his ribbon. As soon as November 12th, Archduke’s secretary sent a notice informing them that the requested ribbon had been dispatched. Archduke Albrecht had the motto “Fides et Honor” (Faith and Honor) written on the ribbon. This was the first decoration the Navy received.
